BMX News Round Up

Some news from Alberta’s BMX racing scene.

-The 2008 World Championships are being held in Taiyuan China this year from May 29 to June 1. Canada can send 16 riders per age class but riders must qualify. The criteria for qualifying are found in detail on the Alberta BMX Association website.

-The first two Western National Series races have taken place in Morley and turnout was about 200 riders each day. This is the first race taking place under the auspices of the new Canadian BMX Association and was a great success. Christine Miller (Airdrie BMX/Crupi Canada) took the win Saturday in the Elite Women’s field with Natasha Vergara (Calgary BMX/Fly/Crupi) rebounding from a forth on Saturday to claim the victory on Sunday. Aaron Lepp (Airdrie BMX/Campcools/Redline) took the win both days in the Elite Men’s race. Results are now up on the on the Canadian BMX Association Website
