Riders were treated to a great course and great weather at the 2008 Alberta Cyclo-Cross Championships this weekend presented by Pedalhead Road Works.

The race took at Gold bar park and featured fast racing. The day began with Lonni Klettl (Freeskool) taking home the Open Women’s divisions in dominating fashion. Samantha Grover (Juventus) took out the Junior Women’s title and Sian Barraclough (Velocity), backing up her National title, took the Women Master A championship.

Next up the Junior Men went into battle with Colter Young (Blizzard) taking home the title over Mackenzie Carson (Juventus). David Roberts (Hardcore) was too strong for the field in the Masters A race to take the win.

Racing heated up in the hotly contested Masters B category as Sean Barr (Pedalhead Roadworks) took out Burce Copeland (Juventus) and Keith Bayly (Veloplzen) for the top 3 spots. Mike Steneker (Juventus) narrowly took the win over

Roger Clemens (United Cycle) in the Master C race and Stew Hutchings (United Cycle) took home the gold in the Master D men competition.

The final race of the day featured a number of Canada’s top Cyclo-Cross racers in the Elite Men’s category. Aaron Schooler (Team H & R Block) proved to be too strong for the rest of the field taking home the provincial jersey over Chris McNeil (Team H & R Block) and Dominik Kubicki (ERTC/Revolution).
