Albertans at Track World Cup

Tara Whitten (Velocity) had a breakthrough ride in the first day of the opening event for the 2008-2009 Track World Cup, with a silver medal performance in the women’s individual pursuit. Whitten qualified second to Olympic silver medalist Wendy Houvenaghel of Great Britain, and lost to Houvenaghel in the Final setting a new Canadian record of 3:36.998Monique Sullivan (Team PCL) fought her way into the Final for the Women’s Keirin, despite having to go through the Repechage after the first round, and finished sixth overall. Sullivan also finished 11th in the Match sprint.
